Mattie Lucille Byerly Koontz

Mattie Lucille Byerly Koontz, 98, left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Beulah United Church of Christ with Pastor Trudy Irving officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Friday in the fellowship hall, just prior to the service and other times at the home. Mrs. Koontz was born January 12, 1918, the only child of Samuel Walter Byerly and Mattie Lenora Pickett Byerly. She was married for 77 years to the love of her life, Farrell David Koontz, who predeceased her. She leaves behind a productive and giving life of service to her church, her community and to her state. For her family, she leaves behind an abundance of love and memories for us to cherish. We will miss her greatly. She leaves behind daughter, Betty Koontz Reeves and daughter, Shirley Koontz Midyette, and son-in-law, Buxton Saunders Midyette, grandson Jonathan Reeves and his two sons, Jared and Jeffrey, grandson Lindsay Reeves, and his wife, Toshja, and their three daughters, Payten, Mattie, and Sydnie; grandson, Christopher and Doug Presley; grandson Buxton Midyette and his wife, Lisa, and their three daughters, Mary Buxton, Elizabeth Byerly, and India Baynton; granddaughter Lenora Byerly Midyette Hunter and her husband, Justin Hunter and their two sons, Zachary and Aidan. And Mary Oldham who tenderly cared for her during her final years.
