Mattie Lee Fennell Westervelt

Mattie Lee Fennell Westervelt, 89, of Hanes Lane, passed away Thursday Morning November 25. A funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday November 29, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, with Rev. Charles Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday November 28, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times the home of her sister Annie Herman. Mattie Lee was born November 20, 1921 in Williamsburg County, S.C., to John Henry and Perrie Evans Fennell. She was a homemaker, and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Westervelt November 11, 2001, a son Hank Westervelt Jr., her parents, a brother J.W. Fennell, and a great-granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Patterson. Surviving Mattie Lee are three daughters; Jo Ann Brady and husband Stephen of Lexington, Pat McCraney and husband Jim of Roanoke Va., and Bobbi Westmoreland and husband Ron of King N.C.; daughter-in-law Linda Westervelt of Lexington; sister Annie Ruth Fennell Herman of Winston-Salem; Ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Memorials, in Mattie Lee’s memory may be directed to Cornerstone Baptist Church-Local Missions, 4507 Thomasville Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
