Maurice Sexton

Maurice C. Sexton Sr. 84 of Flick Circle Thomasville died Sunday morning at Piedmont Crossing. A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Fairmont Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Randy Hall and Rev. Mike Lamm. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Sexton was born March 6, 1924 in Wake County to James Kyle Sexton and Lela Morris Sexton. He was retired from UniJax Inc. in Jacksonville Florida. He was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Choir Member. Mr. Sexton honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, Lions Club and Sertoma. His parents,one brother, James Franklin Sexton and three sisters, Aurelia Byrd, Ann Rogers and Zelma Lee Rushin all preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife Bertie Everhart Sexton of the home: one son, M.C. (Ric) Sexton Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Raleigh and one daughter, Sexton and very special friend Christina Carter of Asheville; three brothers, Robert (Bob) Sexton and Joe Sexton both of Burlington and Phil Sexton of Bolivia, NC. Also surviving are two Grandchildren: Sean Sexton and Erin Sexton both of Raleigh and a very dear friend, Christina Carter. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 pm Wednesday at the church prior to the service and at other times at the home.
