Max Lanning Mize

Max Lanning Mize, age 77, of Greensboro Street Ext. Lexington passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at Thomasville Medical Center, Palliative Care. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at CenterPoint Church with Rev. Barry Surratt officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, with military honors by VFW Post 3074. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday night. Max was born in Davidson County, August 20, 1934 to Howard Henry Mize and Julia Lanning Mize. He was a former employee of Duracell and later retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections; a member of CenterPoint Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eddie Mize, Levens Mize, Vann Mize and Steve Mize. Surviving are his wife, Joann Weaver Mize of Carolina House; daughter, Regina Mize Warren and husband Michael of Lexington; son, Joel Mize and wife Vickii of Lexington; five grandchildren; Nichole Mize, Caitlin Mize, Ethan Mize, Cassandra Underwood and Phillip Warren; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Warren, Avery Hughes and MacKenzie Hughes; sister, Patsy Mize Cable of Sugar Grove; brothers, Don Mize, Murel Mize, Bobby Mize, Allan Mize and Dennis Mize all of Lexington.
