Maxine Howell Yarbrough

Maxine Howell Yarbrough, 91, of Foy Avenue, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at her residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Bea Copeland. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Yarbrough was born May 19, 1915, to Samuel Clegg Howell and Lousia Marilda Leach Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Purcell Addison Yarbrough; a son-in-law ,Tommy Stevenson; three sisters, Lula Deane, Estelle Wilson and Helen Kinney; and two brothers, Clyde Howell and Woodrow Howell. Surviving are three sons, Horace Yarbrough and his wife, Helen, Clegg Yarbrough and his wife Martha, and Jack Yarbrough and his wife, Pat, all of Lexington; five daughters, Becky Stevenson, Brenda Hartley and her husband, Rudolph, and Virginia Podgaysky and her husband, Robert, all of Lexington, Dorcas Biesecker and her husband, Bobby, of Winston-Salem, and Ruth Perrell and her husband, Johnny, of Yuma, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home on Foy Avenue.
