Maybelle Jones Taylor, 88, of Lexington, passed away October 1, 2022, at her home in Lexington.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 7, 2022, at West Minister Gardens in Greensboro, with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell III officiating.

Mrs. Taylor was born May 24, 1934, in Guilford County, to H.L. Smith and Truette Jones. Maybelle was of the Presbyterian faith who was a Christian at heart and loved her faith. She enjoyed spending time on the beach at Kure Beach and Southport having lived there before moving to Lexington. Maybelle was one who loved to talk politics and spending time in her yard working with her potted plants and flowers. Maybelle was an outstanding cook from home cooking to international meals, using only the finest produce, spices. Cooking was an important part of her life, especially during the holidays. Her compassion was her love for animals and wildlife, but her passion was her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maybelle was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and sister, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sellers Edwin Taylor who died February 23, 1997, a son, Patrick Anthony Taylor, daughter, Michelle Elizabeth Smith, and two sisters, Betty Jones, and Martha Jones.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Larry Edwin Taylor and wife Julie, of Wallaha, SC, daughters, Deborah Weaver of Lexington, and Cheryl Ann Crainshaw of Wilmington, NC; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the love of her life her dog Charlie.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make memorials to any animal’s society of their choice.
