Melvin (Nick) Nixon Dry

Melvin Nixon (Nick) Dry, age 67, of Denton passed Saturday morning (Sept. 17, 2011) at Thomasville Medical Center.  A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday (Sept. 25, 2011) in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Rev. Dr. Charles R. Yarborough officiating.   The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 3:00 until 4:00 pm prior to the service.   He was born in Davidson County, March 18, 1944 to Melvin Nixon Dry, Sr. and Martha Biesecker Dry.  He was an avid baseball fan and loved to play the sport while his health allowed.  He threw the first no hitter in Little League baseball, in Davidson County.   Surviving are; his son, Damon Dry of Lexington; one granddaughter, Makayla Dry of Lexington and his companion, Judy Snider of Denton.   Memorials may be made to Davidson County Humane Society, PO Box 1791, Lexington, NC 27293 or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
