Melvin Spry

Melvin Spry, 78 of Linwood went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday April 30, 2008 after several years of declining health. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at Lakeview Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. David Wooten officiating. Melvin was born on October 26, 1929 in Davie County to Pinkston and Josie Spry. He retired from PPG in 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, a beloved son Stevie Spry and grandson Brian Spry who passed away on April 17, 2008. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Lou Spry of the home; son, Mike Spry and wife Nancy of Linwood; daughters, Diane Hedrick and husband Steve of Salisbury and Rhonda Newsome of Linwood; his loving grandchildren Lori Roach and husband Darrin of Lexington, NC; Angela Spry of Linwood, NC; Erin Valley and husband Shane of Salisbury; Phillip Hedrick and fiancée Jamie Peeler of Salisbury, NC; Glynis Prevette and husband Brandon of Lexington, NC and Cheryl Newsome of Southmont, NC and seven beautiful great grandchildren, Morgan Roach; Brandon, Dylan and Tyler Valley, Lucas Hedrick and Ashton and Caleb Cope. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and at other times at the home on Lakeview Church Rd.
