Meredith Hawker Alexander, Jr

Meredith “Al” Hawker Alexander, Jr., 86, of Winston Salem, NC passed peacefully into Heaven on March 11,2025.

He was born to Meredith Hawker Alexander Sr and Mary Martha Booker Alexander on February 16, 1939. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife of 43 years, Linda Mae Alexander and his second wife of 15 years, Ann “Sue” Joyce Alexander, and his brother Jay Alexander.

He is survived by two daughters Jennifer (Joe) Hedinger and Sheila (Jon) Roark and four granddaughters Megan Hendrickson, Allison Dubs, Aleah Hedinger and Kendall Roark and one great grandson Kason Hendrickson and one great granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by two step sons Jeff (Christy) Joyce and Steve Joyce and 6 step grandchildren Zachary Joyce, Madison Spivey, Lindsay Joyce, Corey Joyce, Kayla Joyce and Emma Joyce. He is also survived by two sisters Mary Sturm and Shandron Sturm.

Al enjoyed a long professional career in Information Systems Technology in health care systems to include Montgomery General Hospital, Georgetown University Medical Center and Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in addition several consulting projects in his semi retirement and retirement.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed golf and bowling. He also loved to play his trombone with The Browningsville Cornet Community Band and Washington Redskin Marching Band.

He will be remembered by his ability to persevere and his sense of humor in addition to his love of faith, family and friends.

The family is sincerely grateful for his faith family at Oak Forest UMC and his community of Millers Creek.

Visitation will be at Oak Forest UMC on Thursday, April 10 at 4:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at 5:00pm.

A second Visitation will be held at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home 26401 Ridge Rd, Damascus, MD 20872on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00am followed by a private family burial at 11:00am
