Michael "Scott" Black, age 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Born on May 13, 1964, in Howard County, Texas, Scott was the beloved son of the late James “Jay” Harrell Black and Barbara Raper Black. He was a graduate of East Davidson High School and NC State University, Scott dedicated his career to horticulture, working with Rose Pros and Witherspoon Rose Culture, where he was known for his deep knowledge, gentle care, and unwavering commitment to his customers’ roses.
A lifelong member of Holly Grove Lutheran Church, Scott lived a life rooted in faith, family, and a love for the outdoors. He found joy in hunting, fishing at the coast, and cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength, warm smile, and the pride he took in his work and his family.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Judy Wilson Black, of the home; his daughters, Lindsay Lutz (Trinity) and Caroline Black (Cameron Bame); his brother, Richard "Craig" Black (Kathy); his sister, Amanda Wright (Elton); and sister-in-law, Sarah Wilson Lee (William). He also leaves behind his best buddy, Brandon Conrad, and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held, 10:00 am Saturady, June 28, 2025 at Holy Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Anna Carter officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, NC.
The family will be gathering also at the daughter’s home of Caroline Black.
