Michael Lee Martin

Michael Lee Martin, 63, of Peacock Avenue, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Rowan Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the home. Mr. Martin was born August 21, 1951, in Mecklenburg County, to David Eugene Martin and Rachel Featherston Martin. He was a self employed electrician and plumber. He was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Hopson. Surviving are his loving wife Cathy Morris Martin of the home; son, Jonathan Martin and wife Heather Hail of Lexington; daughter, Suzette Walp and husband Billy of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Jasmine Martin, Skylar Martin, Marissa Walp, Kameron Hager, and Justin Martin; brothers, Anthony Martin and wife Robin, Randy Martin, all of Lexington, and Dennis Martin of Morganton; and sister, Donna Martin of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th Street North West, Washington, DC 20006. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of his loving family, friends, the V.A. Medical Center and Rowan Hospital; along with care givers, Gerianne Shumate, Megan Jester, Amy Shipton, Crystal Fox, Anita Anderson, Regina Warren, and the wait staff at Smokey Joe’s.
