Michael Mathis

Michael Edward Mathis, 31, of Rowan County, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, after a lifetime of courageously battling health challenges.

Michael’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family will honor his life with a private celebration of life.

Born on October 5, 1992, to Cathy Mathis Eller and John Eller, Michael touched the lives of those around him with his creative spirit and resilience. Michael had a deep passion for gaming and was proud to have earned the distinction of Twitch Partner, where he shared his love for the gaming community. When he wasn't behind the screen, he could be found casting a line at his favorite fishing spots or expressing himself through art. Michael was a talented artist, known for his incredible tattoo designs that showcased his unique creativity and eye for detail. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Eller.

Michael is survived by his loving parents, John and Cathy Eller; his brother, Nathan Surratt (Abigail); his beloved grandmother, Carol Eller; his cousins, James Ray, William, and Brittley Mathis; his niece and nephew, Easton and Presleigh; his aunt, Shannon Adapoe (G); and his uncle, Donald Mathis (Crystal).

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to a charity of your choice in Michael’s name.
