Mike Joseph Morphis

Mike Joseph Morphis 47 of Westridge Dr., Lexington died Sunday November 11, 2012 from injuries received in a car accident in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A service will be held Friday November 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Tim Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday November 15, 2012 at Davidson Funeral Home. Mike was born in Davidson County on December 3, 1964 to Joseph C. Morphis and Kathryn Fortner Johnson. He was a lifelong resident of Lexington and was a graduate of Lexington Senior High where he was active in football and wrestling and later helped with programs inspiring young students. He went on to get his nursing degree attending High Point University and Guilford Technical College. Mike worked at several area hospitals and nursing homes until his health began to deteriorate after being diagnosed with diabetes. Mike was an inspiration to everyone he met. Surviving are his father, Joseph C. Morphis, mother Kathryn F. Johnson and stepfather Richard Johnson all of Lexington; sister, Jill Morphis Nichols; niece Abby Miranda Nichols both of Lexington; and grandmother, Martha Johnson of Latrobe, Pa.
