Mildred Florine Garwood Black

Mildred Florine Garwood Black, 81, of East Holly Grove Road, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after two months of serious illness. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Tabor United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Rev. Lloyd Spencer. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was born April 24, 1925, to Wiley Benjamin Garwood and Clara Belle Shutt Garwood. She retired from Hekman Cabinet Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Olin Black, on July 6, 1999, and by two brothers, Garnett E. Garwood and Wiley M. Garwood. Surviving are a son, Ronnie Lee Black and his wife, Denise, of Lexington; and a granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Black of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the residence of her son on Burkhart Road.
