Mildred Shumaker Cope, age 82 of Will Lanier Road, Lexington passed away Sunday afternoon at Hinkle Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Terry Coats officiating. Entombment will follow in the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 until 11:00 am Wednesday, prior to the service.
Mildred was born in Rowan County, October 10, 1932 to John Frank and Lorene Parker Shumaker. She was a member of Spruce Street Baptist Church and a retired employee of Stanley Furniture. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Shumaker.
Surviving are her husband, Riley W. Cope of the home; daughter, Wanda Wingrove (Eddie) and Patricia Hester (Ron) all of Lexington; son, Riley Bradford Cope of Santee, SC; grandchildren, Michelle Wingrove, William Copelin Hester and Payton McKinley Hester; Sisters, Geneva Cody of Tyro and Betty Cecil of Welcome; brother, Pete Shumaker of Pilot Mountain.
