Mildred Everhart Essick

Mildred Ann Everhart Essick, age 82, of Lexington, NC passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at her home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ with the Rev. Darrell Sluder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Mrs. Essick was born on July 17, 1933 in Davidson County to Thomas Walter Everhart and Gracie Lee Everhart. She was a home maker and a member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ. Mrs. Essick was an honorary lifetime member of the Davis-Townsend Lions Club and an Auxiliary member of the American Legion Unit 8. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivy, Ray, and Stokes Everhart; and two sisters, Leona Hayes, and Marietta Byars. Survivng are her loving husband of 60 years, Garland Edward Essick of the home; two sons, Gary Harvey Essick of SC, and Kevin Stuart Essick (Kaye) of Thomasville, NC; two daughters, Edwina Louya of Lexington, NC, and Leah Ann Warren (Gary) of Denton, NC; six grandchildren, Jeremy Essick, Branden Essick (Autumn), Emily Essick and fiancé Chris, Beth Ann Baxter (Ian), Joey Louya, and Travis Louya (Kristi); a special nephew, Glenn Curry (Lora) of Conway, SC; and an adopted daughter, Donna Ball.
