Mildred Virginia Briggs Hedrick, 89, formerly of South County Home Road, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Centerclair Nursing Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Allan Van Meter and Carl Lindquist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hedrick was born December 30, 1918, in Anson County, to William Ervin Briggs and Maude Adelia Hedrick Briggs. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir of her church. Mrs. Hedrick was retired from the Davidson County School System having worked as a dietician at Stoner Thomas School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, M.W. Hedrick; a son, Gary Brent Hedrick; two sisters, Ila Mae Sturdivant and Lois Leonard; and a son-in-law, Danny Grubb.
Surviving are daughters, Mona Gail Hedrick Berrier and husband, Bill, Nellwynn Hedrick Grubb and Adelia Hedrick Carrick and husband, Tony; a daughter-in-law, Gayle Hedrick; 13 grandchildren, Dudley Moore, Brent Moore, Darren Moore, Kelly Moore, Derrick Moore and wife, Michelle, Josh Hedrick, Daine Hedrick, Devan Hedrick, Anna Flippen, Tia Hill and husband, Jon, Deana Coley and husband, Greg, Drue Carrick and wife, Carmen, and Deke Carrick; eight great-grandchildren, Brooke Peeler and husband, Josh, Brett Moore, Emma Flippen, Laci Hill, Landon Hill, Dylan Coley, Dawson Coley, and Drake Carrick; two great-great-grandchildren, Pressley Peeler and Kaleb Peeler; and brother, Dolan Briggs.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at their respective homes.
