Mrs.. Mildred Clodfelter Hilton, 95, a resident of Hege Drive, died Tuesday, July 1 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday from the First Reformed United Church of Christ by Dr. Walter Patton and Rev. Mike Hooper. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs.. Hilton was born June 12, 1913 in Davidson County to Charles Alpheus Clodfelter and Rosa Fritts Clodfelter. She was a 1930 graduate of Lexington High School and attended business college in Richmond, VA. Mrs.. Hilton and her husband, Greeley Hilton Sr., founded Davidson County Broadcasting in 1946. They were married for 65 years and he preceded her in death in 1999. Her son, William B. Hilton; her brothers: Charles Clifton Clodfelter, Hoy Derwood Clodfelter, Joe Fritts Clodfelter, and Robert Alpheus Clodfelter; and her sisters: Kathleen Clodfelter Sykes, and Lillie Ree Clodfelter also preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and had been a devoted member of the Charity League and the Women’s Club of Lexington.
She is survived by her son, Greeley “Gig” Hilton, Jr. and wife, Susan of Lexington; her daughter in law, Mary Hilton of Lexington; her grandchildren: Scott Landon Hilton, Brande Hilton Garrison, and husband Troy, Kimberly Anne Hilton, and Stacy Michelle Hilton; her great grandchildren: Corey Scott Hilton, Sadie Elise Garrison, and Sydney Shea Garrison; and her longtime friends and caretakers: Grace Bryson and Edna Allen.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM prior to the service on
Saturday in the Church Parlor.
