Mildred Brewer Koontz

Mildred Maxine Brewer Koontz, 92 of Alston Brooke Nursing Home, died Saturday October 29, 2016 at Alston Brooke.   A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday November 2, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Rev. David Langley officiating services, burial will follow at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 at Davidson Funeral Home.   Mrs. Koontz was born in Davidson County on October 21, 1924 to Coman Orville Brewer and Essie Mae Hedrick Brewer. She was a homemaker and seamstress, making many quilts for family and friends. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hobart Fishel Koontz; a daughter; Barbara Jean Yates; a son Stephen Eugene Koontz; two brothers, Ray Brewer, Bryce Brewer, a sister, Reba Byrd, and two grandsons, Matthew and Gabriel Koontz.   Surviving are sons; Larry Koontz and wife Pearl of Clemmons; Ralph Koontz and wife Sarah; Richard Koontz and wife Cindy; Terry Koontz and wife Diane, and Kenneth Koontz and wife Donna, all of Lexington; daughters, Martha Thomason, Sharon Templeand husband Bryan both of Lexington;, Teresa Bradshaw and husband Robert of Southport, Annette Hicks and husband Butch of Barnsville Georgia, and Mary Everhart and husband Gary of Lexington  Daughter-in-law Betty Koontz of Lexington; son-in-law, Don Yates of Pooler Georgia; two brothers, Aubrey Brewer of Roanoke Virginia and Donald Brewer and wife Shelby of Lugoff South Carolina;  two sister-in-laws, Mozelle Koontz of Lexington and Janie Koontz of Southport; brother-in-law Leon Koontz and wife Betty, and 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.   Memorials may be made to Alston Brooke Nursing Home 4748 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington NC 27295
