Mildred Koontz

Mildred Mize Koontz, 91, formerly of Westover Drive, died Sunday, April 2 at Piedmont Crossing.   A funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday, April 6 at First Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Dr. Lee Zehmer.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.   Mrs. Koontz was born May 31, 1925 in Davidson County to William James Mize and Bessie Leigh Grubb Mize.  She was a graduate of Welcome High School, where she played basketball.  Her brothers, Robert Lee Mize, Ervin Mize, Bill Mize, and Fred Mize, and her sisters, Nora Hege, Estelle Parks, Elvie Wray, Ethel Leatherman, and Katherine Pickett, preceded her in death.   She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Corl E. Koontz; sons, Gary Koontz and wife, Tricia, of Kernersville and Craig Koontz and wife, Cathy of Lexington; daughter, Sherry Weiser of Lexington; grandchildren, Dr. Catherine Rogers and her husband John, Wilson Koontz, Brian Koontz his wife Lani, and Laura Bowers and her husband Jeff; and great-grandchildren, Kai, Leila, and Kade Koontz, and Levi and Wyatt Bowers.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 586, Lexington NC 27293.
