Mrs. Mildred Gertrue Sink Lanning 93 passed away on Saturday May 2, 2009.
She was born August 14, 1915 in Davidson County to the late Clem and Edna Myers Sink. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Luther, Alvin, Lacy and Earl Sink and a sister, Blanche Lanning. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Hollis S. Lanning: son Hoy Lanning Sr. and wife, Kathy; two daughters, Treva Cope and husband, Roy: Ruth Oliver and husband, Jim, all of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; Hoy Lanning Jr. and wife, Gwen, Kevin Lanning, Paula Downs and husband Roy, Kim Miller and husband, Andy, Doug Cope and wife, Kim, Shannon Snider and wife, Kelly, Darrell Cope and wife, Renee, Phil Lanning and wife, Kim, Hollis Papale and husband, Adam, Millie Smith and husband, Jamey, Jamye Duncan and husband, Hunter and Jenni Gooding and husband, Benji; one step grandchild Carolyn Oliver; 24 great grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Henry Sink and wife, Donese, and Claude Sink and wife, Verlie; and three sisters, Nellie Phillips, Joan Phillips and husband, Cliff, and Mary Alice Berrier and husband, Ellis, all of Lexington.
A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday May 6, 2009 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Farabow and Rev. Hunter Duncan officiating. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive family and friends Tuesday May 5, 2009 at Davidson Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.
