Milton Goins

Milton Goins, 78, of John Young Road, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center after an illness of 2 months. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ with the Rev. James Peeler officiating. Burial will follow in Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ Cemetery. Mr. Goins was born December 9, 1929, in Avery County, to Will Goins and Sylvia Ingram Goins. He was a former employee Tarheel Formica Mine and the Avery County Formica Mine and retired from Coble Dairy after 44 years of service. He was a member of Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ and was the custodian for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Paul and Henry Goins. Surviving are his wife, Mary Rhodes Goins of the home; sons, Michael Goins and Scott Goins and wife Tammy all of Lexington and daughter, Kathy Gordon and husband Jerry of Breckin Ridge, CO. Two grandchildren, Jessica Goins and Melissa Gordon; brothers, Sammy Goins and wife Clara;Vennie Goins and wife Judy; Willie Goins and wife Lancie all of Lexington and sisters, Heidi Kepley and husband Donald; Maxine Leonard, Rebecca Crotts and husband Brice and Betty Wrenn all of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME LEXINGTON and at other times at the home.
