Minnie Hart Denning

Minnie Hart Denning, 87, of Lexington went home to be with Jesus Saturday evening October 14, 2017 at Alston Brook. A 3:00 PM funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel with Reverend Mark Blair and Reverend Jonathon Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the family home. Minnie was born December 7, 1929 in Telfair County, Georgia the daughter of Silas Mitchell Hart and Lula Bell Cravey Hart. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Welcome and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. Minnie was a retired employee of Lexington Telephone Company. In addition to her parents Minnie was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Sandler and brother, Emory Hart. Minnie is survived by her husband of 66 years, J.D. Denning of the home; three children, Cathie Lane and husband Bill of Hickory, Jeffrey Allen Denning and wife Debi of Lexington, Terri Rhodes and husband Michael of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Lisa Denning, Megan Duggins Minton, Alex Rhodes and Nicholas Rhodes; great- granddaughter, Vaida; sister, Maude McVey of McRae, GA. She loved to shop, sew and work in her flower gardens. Minnie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and dearly loved her family.
