Minnie Mallard Swicegood

Minnie Mallard Swicegood, age 81 of Brookstone Retirement Home formerly of Weaver Road, Lexington (Welcome Community) passed away Saturday morning at Brookstone Retirement Center.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday (10-07-2008) at First Baptist Church of Welcome with Rev. Mark Blair officiating.  Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery.   Minnie was born in Davidson County January 11, 1927 to David Calvin Mallard and Annie Freeman Mallard.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Ronald Vernon Swicegood, Jr.; three brothers, David , Robert and J.C. Mallard and two sisters, Lula Jane Mallard and Annie Belle Mallard.   Surviving are; two sons, Ron Swicegood and wife Linda of Winston Salem, Joe Swicegood and wife Vi of Welcome, three grandchildren; Minnee’Byrd, Angela Hammonds and Vicki Caldwell, three great-grandchildren; Matt Byrd, Karen and Kelli Hammonds.   A special thank you to the staff of Brookstone Retirement Center and Hospice of Davidson County for all their love and care.   The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Monday night at Davidson Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, PO Box 1941, Lexington, NC  27293   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
