Mira Workman Vickers

Mira Workman Vickers, 85, of Shiptontown Road, Lexington, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 2, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 4, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Allan Van Meter officiating. Mrs. Vickers was born in Davidson County on October 15, 1921 to Hammet Noah Workman and Ida Mae Kepley Workman. She was a retired beautician and a retired textile employee of Erlanger and Dacotah Cotton Mills. She was a founding member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was the oldest active member of the church. She served in many positions in the Women's Guild and the United Methodist Women and was past choir member and a Sunday school teacher. Her parents, two brothers, Clifford Herbert Workman and Gaither Lee Workman preceded her in death. Mrs. Vickers is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Justice Vickers; three daughters, Brenda Hedrick and husband Randy, Annette Hedrick and husband Ricky and Marcia Reid and husband Doug, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Chris Reid and wife Ashley, Garrett Hedrick and wife Amy and Johnathan Hedrick, all of Lexington and Caroline H. Dally and husband Andy of Chantilly, Va., and Cory Hedrick of Surfside Beach, S.C; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Troy and Isabella Reid, Gray and Kate Hedrick and Tanner and Cora Dally. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday June 3, 2007 at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington. Memorials may be directed to Bethany United Methodist Church, 193 Bethany Rd., Lexington, NC 27292.
