Mitchell A. Harb

October 15, 1919 — February 22, 2016

Mitchell Abraham Harb, 96, of Genesis Health Care, died Monday, February 22, 2016, at the care center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Mr. Harb was born October 15, 1919, in Guilford County, to Fareed Joseph Harb and Catherine Carter Harb. He served in the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Post 8. He was owner/operator of Harb Tire and Recapping until his retirement. Mr. Harb was a member of the NRA, Eagle Coin Club, an inventor and was presented a Public Service Award for volunteering from Governor Jim Hunt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilee Cruse Harb, who died September 4, 2012; brothers, Crawford Harb and Thurman Harb; and sisters, Queenie Wells and Flomenia O’Leary. Surviving are son, Mitchell Joseph Harb Sr. of Lexington; daughter, Marilee Priscilla Harb and Gene Sink of Lexington; grandchildren, Michelle Moore and husband, Derrick, Scott Hedrick, Mitchell Joseph Harb Jr. and wife, Lisa; and Tammi Britt and husband, Jeff; great-grandchildren, Brooke Peeler and husband, Josh, Brett Moore, Hunter Britt and Madison Britt; great-great-grandchildren, Pressley Peeler and Kaleb Peeler; brother, Fareed “Fred” Harb and wife, Betty of High Point; and sisters, Miheepa Jones and Margaret Carroll, both of Lexington.
