October 3, 1943 — July 19, 2012

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you” John 15:16 , Mitchell Cecil Walker Jr., 68, of Gyro Drive, left this world to be with his heavenly Father Thursday evening July 19, at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held, at 2:00p.m., Monday 7-23-2012, at First Wesleyan Baptist Church, Old Salisbury Road, Winston-Salem conducted by Pastor Gene Lawson. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will see friends, 6-8 p.m., Sunday 7-22-2012, at First Wesleyan Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Mitchell was born October 03, 1943 in Louisville Ky. to Mitchell Cecil Walker Sr. and Nina Lominac Walker. He spent several childhood years in Germany with his family while his father served in the U.S. Army. Mitchell never met a stranger and was loved by all. He was employed with Roadway Express for 18 years and was a charter member of Teamsters Local 391 and a member of Masonic Lodge 707. He was a loving husband who enjoyed many happy years with his (Starlite). A devoted daddy; who never turned his back on his children. A loyal and proud papa, and a faithful friend too, many. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Nancy Lay and Yolanda Hendricks. Mitchell is survived by: his wife Kathy Stainback Walker of the home; son, Mitchell Scott (Boog) Walker of the home; two daughters, Nina Michelle (Bird) Walker Wall (Wayne) of Tobaccoville, NC, and Angelia (Annie Pooh) Walker of Clemmons NC; stepson, Tommy Stewart (Kelly) and step-daughter Pamela Eanes (Rodney) both of Winston-Salem; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren a brother, Stan Walker of Virginia Beach Va. and a host of many loved ones. The family would like to give thanks to a special nephew, Ronnie Blackburn and cousin George Foster for all the midnight runs. If only we could have just five more minutes, sugar! Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
