Mrs. Molly Irene George Mahala, 96, of Autumn Care in Salisbury and formerly of Southmont, died Monday, October 12, at the nursing facility.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 14 at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Billy Pearson, Bill Hicks, and R.N. Hardin, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Mahala was born August 22, 1913 in Davidson County to William Emmanuel George and Becky Jane Tuttle George. She was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker. Her husband, James Harvey Mahala, and her daughter, Peggy Mahala Johnson Daniels, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Talley, and husband, Ron of Lexington, Betty Rickard of Salisbury, Joyce Felker and husband, John, of Lexington, Libby Cross, and husband, Wayne of Southmont, and Barbara Bailey, and husband, Roger, of Salisbury; her sons, James Mahala, and wife, Joyce, of Salisbury, and Larry Mahala of Lexington; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren; her brother, Eugene George and wife, Lorene, of Lexington; her sisters, Becky Briggs and Betty Jordan, both of Lexington; and her sister in law, Nellie George of Southmont.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Nancy Talley, 330 Green Meadows Drive, Lexington.
