Myrtle Gardner

August 16, 1930 — October 22, 2011

Mrs. Myrtle Louise Jones Gardner, 81, of Southmont, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Hinkle Hospice House after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 25 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Rachel Byerly on Highway 8, Lexington. Mrs. Gardner was born August 16, 1930 in Avery County to Raymond and Sallie Hinkle Jones. She retired from Young-Hinkle Furniture and was of the Baptist faith. Her husband, James Coolidge Gardner, preceded her in death, as well as five brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, and a great grandchild. She is survived by her sons, Rudy Gardner and wife, Amanda, of Thomasville, and Randy Gardner of Lexington; her daughters, Rachel Byerly and husband, Robert, of Lexington, Ruth Lomax of Linwood, Hazel James of Southmont, and Kathryn Frizzell and husband, Carl, of Linwood; her brother, Elmer Jones, and wife, Esther, of Churchland; her sisters, Edith King of Clemmons, and Thelma Freeman of Washington; her 19 grandchildren including Tracy Wood and Jamie Wood; 32 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Hinkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
