Myrtle Canady Leonard

Myrtle Canady Leonard, 89, of Jess Ray Lane, died Thursday, July 06, 2017, at Hinkle Hospice House.  The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Journey Church of God of Prophecy, where she was a charter member, with the Rev. Gerald Shean officiating. Burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service and other times at the home of her son on Highway 8 South.  Mrs. Leonard was born April 16, 1928, in Harnett County, to Ronnie Carl Canady and Lizzie Jane Williams Canady. She retired from the packaging department at PPG. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Leonard Sr.; daughter, Shelby Jean Hedrick; brother, James Paul Canady; and sisters, Gertrude Hamilton, Anne Belle Thomason, Geneva Watkins, Tenny Warner, and Lila Mae McGlamery.  Surviving are son, Hobart Leonard and wife Ann of Lexington; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
