Nancy Cecil Haley

Nancy Cecil Haley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Sunday, March 16th, 2025, at the age of 90, in Lexington.

Nancy was born on Tuesday, November 20th, 1934, in Lexington to Leland Meredith and Isabelle Oakes Cecil . She was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, always ensuring her home was filled with love and comfort. Her kindness and nurturing spirit were evident in the care she generously gave her late daughter, Kimberly, and in the countless handmade garments she lovingly crafted for her children and grandchildren. As a lifelong resident of Lexington, Nancy's legacy is carried forward by her family: grandchildren James E. Hedrick, Sabrina Widener, and Robert Michael Widener Jr., all of Lexington, NC; Amber Caldwell and Stephanie Norton, both formerly of Lexington, NC. Nancy is also survived by her brother, Richard Kay Cecil of Lexington, NC and her sisters, Jeanne Murphey of Midlothian, VA. and Susy Morrison of Hickory, NC.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Cecilia Haley Hedrick and Kimberly Ann Haley; sons James Kenneth Haley Jr. and Robert Michael Widener Sr.; brothers Robert "Bobby" Cecil and Charles "Charlie" Cecil.

Those who knew Nancy will remember her passion for reading and sewing, skills passed down through generations. She found immense joy in her quiet moments at home, especially when accompanied by her loyal companion, Chloe, her long-haired Chihuahua.

In tribute to Nancy’s affinity for animals and her nurturing nature, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the  Humane Society of Davidson County. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington. Davidson Funeral Home is honored to be serving her family.
