Nancy Anderson Moore, 83, of Woodlawn Dr., Lexington, died Thursday February 9, 2006 at Alston Brook Nursing Home.
Mrs. Moore was born March 15, 1922 in Spartanburg, SC to James Mason Anderson and Rosa Eppes Anderson. She attended Spartanburg Public Schools and attended and graduated from Converse College on an academic scholarship awarded to the top female student at Spartanburg High School. She married John McDowell Moore, Jr on June 9, 1951. The couple lived in Lexington, North Carolina until the present. Mrs. Moore was active at the First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, where she was past president of the Women of the Church. She also remained a member of the Junior League of Spartanburg, South Carolina until her death. Mrs. Moore was an active reader and a member of the Sorosis Book Club of Lexington. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Junior Charity League of Lexington. She was preceded in death by her sister, Katharine M. Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, John McDowell Moore, Jr. of the home, her daughters: Margaret M. Robb of Cincinnati, Ohio; Elizabeth M. Glenn of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Mary M. Palmes of Statesville, North Carolina and Nancy M. Jenkins of Biscoe, North Carolina, ten grandchildren, and her sisters: Margaret A. Gibbs, Martha Elizabeth Goldsmith and Rosa Keith.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church of Lexington by Dr. Lee Zehmer. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Friday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that friends make contribvutions to the charity of their choice
