Nancy Craver Oakley

Mrs. Nancy Craver Oakley, 82, of Welcome passed peacefully at her home Sunday, August 9, 2020, surrounded by her feline and canine companions whom she loved deeply.

The family will hold a private celebration of her life.

Nancy was born to Grady Eli Craver and Erma Mae Garrison Craver. She was a graduate of Brevard College and was retired from Piedmont Airlines / USAir.

Nancy loved to cook and was an excellent baker as the many recipients of her baked sweet goods will attest to. Her secret ingredient was love. She took great joy in baking.

In 1956 she met the love of her life, George Oakley, Jr. and they were married for fifty three years until his passing. They are together again.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband George.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: daughter, Teresa Oakley Woosley; sons, Jeffrey Craig Oakley and Jonathan Oakley; one brother, Tony Gray Craver; and her clowder of beloved feline companions, Atticus, Ambrose, Peachmonte, Penny and Merlyn, along with her canine best bud, Mac.

Nancy dearly loved her animal rescue associations. We love you Mom.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice of Davidson County for the wonderful care given to Nancy.

To honor her memory, memorials may be made to the following: Hospice of Davidson County; Ruff Love of Davidson County; AARF of Winston-Salem and to the Davidson County Animal Shelter.
