Nancy Lou Phelps, 78, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away on August 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on August 21, 1947, in Jellico, Tennessee to the late Loren Ellis Hil and Flora Jane (Sullivan) Hill. Nancy was a humble, loving woman who touched the lives of many. She was a dedicated member of the Westside Baptist Church in Lexington, North Carolina.
Nancy was a beacon of grace and kindness throughout her life. She was a loving wife of over 61 years to Rev. Hobert Gary Phelps of Lexington, North Carolina, and together they shared a beautiful life of love and devotion. She was a cherished mother, leaving behind a legacy through her children, Kim Floyd and husband Tim of Lexington, North Carolina and Ted Phelps and wife Jennifer of Lexington, North Carolina and adopted daughter Patty Phelps of Georgia.
Nancy had a special place in her heart for her 5 grandchildren, Amber Tritt and husband Jeremy, Jonathan Floyd, Hailey Phelps, Alec Phelps, and Kaitlyn Luke, and was blessed to be a great-grandmother of 5 to Sarah Tritt, Luke Tritt, Andrew Phelps, Kathan Phelps, and Beau Phelps.
Nancy is also survived by her sister-in-law, Virgina Hill of Nebraska and brother-in-law, Terry Phelps of Oregan, who will forever remember her warmth and love. She also is survived by a host of nieces and nephews who mourns her passing.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Flora Hill, her brother Ellis Hill, her sister Shelley Mobley, and her beloved son, Gary Lee Phelps. Nancy's humble spirit, her loving nature, and her unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Funeral Service(s); will be 12:00 pm Friday August 29, 2025, at the Westside Baptist Church in Lexington, North Carolina with Rev, Jason Koontz officiating. Visitation will start at 11:00 am before the service. She will be brought home to Kentucky for Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Saturday August 30, 2025, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
A burial Service will follow at the Maple Creek Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Westside Baptist Church in Lexington, North Carolina or the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, North Carolina.
