Mrs. Nancy Carol Sowers Wells, 88, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Health in Winston-Salem surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 30th, 2026, at the Snider-Young Family Cemetery 7419 S. NC Hwy. 150, Lexington, with Pastor Terry Smith officiating.

Mrs. Wells was born on December 28, 1937, in Davidson County, to the late Staley Sowers and Ultra Sowers Badgett.

Nancy was a homemaker and a longtime member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. She loved quilting and crafting and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family through the years. Nancy and her husband also owned and operated an antique store known as “Old Things,” where she enjoyed meeting people and sharing her love for antiques. She had a true green thumb and found great joy in gardening and caring for her flowers. Most of all, Nancy loved her family and will be remembered as an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Swisshelm; her brother, John Sowers; and her sister, Annie Freeman.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Robert Jerry Wells, Sr.; her sons, Robert Jerry Wells, Jr. (Lee) and Douglas Glenn Wells (Billie); her daughters, Carol Wells Leard (Andy) and Sara Wells Adams (Gordon); her sisters, Phyllis Sowers and Neplus Hall (Ken); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
