Nancy Broom Young

Nancy Broom Young, 70, of Bowers Road, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Lexington Medical Center following a sudden illness. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Memorial United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Revs. Trudy Irving and James Peeler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home. Mrs. Young was born July 16, 1942, in Mecklenburg County, to May Broom and Mary Eva Broom. She was raised at the Junior Order Home in Lexington. Mrs. Young was a former long distance operator for Lexington Telephone and later a secretary at Stoner Thomas School. Most recently she worked with her husband, as secretary for Rodney W. Young Masonry. Surviving are her loving husband, Rodney Woodrow Young of the home; son, Todd Young and wife Michelle of Lexington; daughter, Renee Adkins and husband John of Lexington; and grandchildren, who were her favorite pastime, Cody and Chad Adkins, Chandler, Madison, and Jacob Young.
