Naomi Gerald

Naomi Jean Jenkins Gerald, age 84, of Lexington passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.   A funeral service will be held at Rolling Heights Baptist Church at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 4, 2017 with the Revs. Wayne Sechrest and Glen Dusina officiating.   The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service.   Mrs. Gerald was born in Menden, LA on September 2, 1933 to George Samuel Jenkins and Rose Mrosinsky Garrage. She was a member of Rolling Heights Baptist Church and a retired weaver, having worked for JP Stevens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Lee Gerald; her brother, Timmy Ryan Jenkins; and her sister, Elizabeth Jenkins Pegram.   Surviving are her son, Talmadge Lee Gerald Jr. (Leesa) of St. Augustine, FL; her three daughters, Brenda Ziglar (Gary) of Garden City Beach, SC, Constance Reid (Randy) of Winston Salem, and Sherry Beck (David) of Lexington; two brothers, George S. Jenkins Jr. and James Thomas Jenkins; 9 grandchildren, Michael Ziglar, Jamie Ziglar, Scotty Reid, Jeremy Reid, Brandon Deese, Cheryl Wagner, Tal Gerald, Caleb Gerald, and Nicole Gerald; and thirteen great-grandchildren.   Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s NC at 9131 Anson Way Suite 206 Raleigh, NC 27615 or to the National Down Syndrome Society at 8 E 41st St 8th Floor New York, NY 10017.
