Naomi Swicegood Leonard

Naomi Swicegood Leonard, 94, of Mallard Ridge, formerly of Old Highway 64 West, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Leonard was born December 13, 1919, in Davidson County, to Willie Bane Swicegood and Ella Mae Walser Swicegood. She was a member of the American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary and retired from Duracell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Grady Lee Leonard, who died March 5, 2011; son, Carroll Leonard; brothers, Arlie Swicegood, Paul Swicegood, and Vilas Swicegood; and sisters, Eula Weaver, Dot Koonts, and Louise Lanning. Surviving are sons, Gary Leonard and wife Pat of Oriental, and Ronald Leonard and wife Lynne of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Becky C. Leonard of Lexington; grandchildren, Greg Leonard of Oriental, Korie Woolgar and husband Andy of High Point, Eric Leonard and wife Robin of Knightdale, Dr. Sarah Kittner and husband Mike of Clemmons, and Jacob Leonard and girlfriend Sheena Cooper of Winston-Salem; two great-grandchildren, Harper Kittner and Reagan Kittner; brother, I.V. Swicegood of Lexington; and sisters, Geraldine Ketner of Lexington and Joretta Davis of Winston-Salem. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
