Mrs. Naomi Trantham Owen, age 99 of Brookstone Retirement Center formerly of NC Highway 8 south, passed away Sunday night at Brookstone.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Blanton officiating, Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday night and other times will be at the home.
Naomi was born in Davidson County July 27, 1915 to Henry Clay and Mamie Smith Trantham. She was a retired teacher with Davidson County Schools with 41 years of service, having taught at Silver Valley, Southmont and Denton Schools. She was the oldest member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul E. Owen; sister, Ruby Feezor and a brother, Spurgeon Trantham.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Kearns and husband Jim of Southmont; sister, Betty Hedrick and husband Tommy of Southmont; grandchildren, Michael Kearns and Ann Schaefer and husband Ronny; Great Grandchild, Owen Schaefer; several Nieces and Nephews, Special Friends, many Former Students and her dog “Trixie”.
