Naomia Huffman Martin, age 87, of Trantham Drive, Lexington went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday night, at her home surrounded by her family and angels rejoicing.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday (July 20, 2011) in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 am Wednesday prior to the service and at other times at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Hayes, 352 Trantham Drive, Lexington.
Naomia was born in Wilkes County, April 12, 1924 to James William Huffman and Rosa Church Huffman. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church on Highway 8 and was the retired co-owner and operator of Martins Grocery. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.D. Martin on March 13, 1969; son, Troy Martin; two grandsons, Robin and Zack Martin; sister, Ruth Lou Morris; brothers, Herman, James and Carl Huffman.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Martin Hayes and husband Tommy of Lexington and their children, April Hayes Valerio and husband Ralph, Angela Hayes Thompson and husband Ben and their children, Charlan Penninger and Brendan Thompson, Dawny Hayes Bates and her children, Thayer and Lindy Bates; Lisa Martin King and husband Sam of Lexington and their children, Ciara Rose King and Tanner Paul King; two sons, Roy Martin and wife Emma Sue of Lexington and their children, Melissa Blackburn and husband Carroll and their children, Alesha Johnson and Matthew Perry; Michelle Tysinger and husband Tim and their children, Heather and Trey Tysinger; Monte Martin and children, Travis Martin and son Trevor, Monica Martin, Siobhan Arthur and husband Ronald and their children, Jack and Hannah Arthur, Veronica Martin and son, De-Sean Gatlin, and Matthew Eaton; and her special pet poodle “Precious”.
