Nealie Scott Mendenhall age 87 of Old Mill Farm Road, passed away Tuesday morning, March 2 at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday March 4, 2010 at Good Hope United Methodist Church. with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Wednesday at the home and after the service in the fellowship hall.
Mrs. Mendenhall was born in Davidson County on April 26, 1922 to Joe Cecil Scott Sr. and Addie Zimmerman Scott. She was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher also a charter member of United Methodist Women. A member of the choir and youth group leader also a Senior Friends member. She helped organize the meals on wheels for Reedy Creek area. She retired from Western Electric and was a member of the Pioneers Club. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vada Scott Koonts.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years Otis P. Mendenhall of the home. Son, Jerry Wayne Mendenhall and wife Mary of Lexington. Daughter, Vickie Mendenhall Tucker and husband David of Lexington. Brother, J. C. Scott Jr. of Lexington. Grandchildren, Heather Goforth and husband Charlie, Jera Hawn and husband Mitchell, Kacie Tucker, Nia Mendenhall all of Lexington. Great-grandchild, Izabell Goforth of Lexington.
