Ned Lynn Byerly

Neddy “Ned” Lynn Byerly, 78, a resident of Lexington, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, at his residence. Ned was born in Davidson County on February 18, 1944, to the late Earlie Junius and Ida Sink Byerly. He was a Supervisor for Williams Pipeline until his retirement. On February 12, 1966, he married the love of his life, Jane Koontz. Ned was someone who never met a stranger, he loved making friends wherever he went. He was selfless, he enjoyed planting a garden just so he could provide produce to his friends and neighbors, and a hard worker, who provided for his family. Ned was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church, the Memorial Masonic Lodge in Lexington, a former President of Mt. Mourne Lions Club, of the Welcome Lions Club, and Shriners. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 11, 2022, in Friendship United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. There will not be a formal visitation. Ned will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington on Wednesday from 1-5 PM. The family will greet friends at the home of Ned’s son, Barry.

Ned is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jane Byerly of the home; a son, Barry Byerly (Sherry) of Lexington; a brother, Calvin Byerly (Ginger) of Clemmons; and his granddaughters, Lindsey and Adriana Byerly both of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
