Nedina Evans Nelson, age 84, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at her home.
Lou was born on August 29, 1941, in Scioto County, Ohio, to Clarence Evans and Wilma Riegel Evans. She married the love of her life, Roger, in 1960. Together they travelled extensively, visiting all 50 states. They loved their cruises, especially the warm, sunny ones!
A devout Christian, she was an AWANA’s game leader for 20+ years. She taught Sunday school and traveled for missionary work. For years, she was an alto in the church choir. More recently, she planned and organized the ladies’ monthly trips.
She loved traveling, the beach, her kids, grandkids, and her great friends.
Surviving are her loving children, son Jeffrey Nelson (Tracey) of Lexington; her daughter Cindy West (David) of Johnstown, OH; brother Wallace Evans (Sylvia) and sister Christine Cassada (Jesse) of Elko, GA; two grandchildren Evan Poling (Lauren) of Phoenix, AZ and Eric Poling of Newark, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and one sister.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Frankie Matthews. The family will see friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the service. A private inurnment will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
