Neil Alvin Lomax, 73, of Jubilee Road, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Churchland Baptist Church, where he was a member, conducted by the Rev. Christina Howell. Burial will at be Lomax Family Cemetery.
Mr. Lomax was born May 16, 1933, in Davidson County to Willie Alvin Lomax and Mae Irene Barnhardt Lomax. A retired employee of Celanese in Salisbury, he was veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid supporter of UNC basketball and never missed anything his grandchildren were involved in.
Surviving are sister Betty Lomax of the home; daughters Donna Blackwelder of Harrisburg and Sharon Starnes of Kannapolis; stepdaughter Diane Griffin of Salisbury; grandchildren Joshua Blackwelder, Michael Smith, Justin Blackwelder, Kenneth Blackwelder, Jr., Luke Blackwelder, Heather Starnes, Cody Starnes, Michele Shimberg and Melanie Tysinger; and step-great-grandchildren Sam-antha and Seth Shimberg.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
