Nell Sudduth Hood, resident of Peachtree Street, Lexington passed away Tuesday (June 22, 2010) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday (June 26, 2010) at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Lee Zehmer officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will be at home. Nell was born in Greenville County, South Carolina May 5, 1926 to Alvin LeRoy Sudduth and Dean Middleton Sudduth. She grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina, a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and a graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a long time member of the Choir. For many years she was very active in the Charity League and Lexington Choral Society. She was one of the founders of Meals On Wheels in Lexington and volunteered with them for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alvin LeRoy Sudduth Jr. Surviving are husband; Dr. J. Sidney Hood of the home; one daughter, Betsy Hood Cowan and husband Mark of Lexington; two sons, John Sidney Hood III and partner Sally Swineford of Georgetown S. C. and Taylor Hood and wife Anne of Lexington; three grandchildren, Taylor Harrison Hood, Jr., Anna Sidney Hood and David Alexander Cowan. The family request that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Music Fund and Meals on Wheels Program through First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 586, Lexington, NC 27293 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292
