Nelle Billings

Nelle Davis Billings, 86, Brookstone Rest Home and Retirement Center, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at the Retirement Center. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Lindquist and the Dr. Jim Martin. Mrs. Billings was born in Davidson County, June 20, 1920, to William Lester Davis and Laura Lenora Davis. She was a homemaker and an avid bridge player in which she received her Life Masters Certificate. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Homer S. Billings; four sisters, Laura May Davis Gibbons, Burnlee Beulah Davis Smith, Frances Ruth Davis Farabee, Betty Lou Davis Farabee; six brothers, Glenn Howard Davis, William Eccles Davis, James Edward Davis, Wade Hampton Davis, Dermont Lester Davis and Johnny Truette Davis. Mrs. Billings is survived by daughters, Bonnie B. Aldridge of Little River, SC, Laura L. Billings of Wilmington; son, Jacob “Jake” Billings and wife, Lisa, of Lexington; sister, Edna Davis Lanier and husband, Ardell Lanier, of Lexington; brother H. Wayne Davis and wife, Joanne, of Pleasant Garden; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Billings requested memorials be made to Cherry Grove Baptist Church, Missions Fund, 859 Cherry Grove Road, Moravian Falls, NC 28654.
