Nellie Brinkley

Nellie Wall Brinkley, 84, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 22, 2012, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at Bethesda United Methodist Church by the Revs. Dennis Marshall and David Brinkley. A visitation will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and other times at the home of her son, Thomas Grady Brinkley. Nellie was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Rockingham County to Thomas and Flossie Draper Wall. She was a secretary at Welcome Parts House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Leon Brinkley, who died Aug. 19, 2008, and her parents. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Thomas Grady Brinkley and wife Shirley of Welcome; one sister, Sudie Doggett of Shelby; four grandchildren, David, Steven and Scott Brinkley and Janice Sabag; and five great-grandchildren, Christian, Zachary, Daniel, Noah and Klever.
