Nellie Beck George age 86, formerly of Highway 8, died Saturday January 5, 2013 at Hinkle Hospice House after a brief illness.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday January 11, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church where she was a member, with Rev. Billy Pearson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Stoner’s Grove Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Thursday January 10, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at her niece’s lake house.
Nellie was born February 10, 1926 in Davidson County to Chester Henry Beck and Fannie Misenhiemer Beck. She was employed at Burlington Industries prior to her retirement from Henry Link Furniture, and after retirement she cared for numerous children in and around Southmont; she also was an Avon representative for 35 years. Nellie had an avid faith in God and was a great witness to others; her favorite advice to family and friends was read your bible and say your prayers daily. At Stoner’s Grove she cared for the nursery for 60 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank George in 1992 and two sisters, Kathleen Surratt and Helen Beck.
Nellie is survived by sons Frank George Jr. of Lexington and Chester George and wife Brenda of Roswell Ga.; daughter Rita Ricker and friend, Bobby Burgess, of Lexington; brother Daniel Beck and friend, Joy Stinson, of Yadkinville N.C.; grandchildren, Logan O’Neill, Cole Ricker, Catye Ricker and friend Jeremy Shaw, Michael George and wife Lesley, Nicole George, Maeghan Ferrell and Brooke George; great-grandchildren, Makayla George, Jatye Sherman, Christopher George, Ashton and Aiden Ferrell; special nieces and nephews Shelia Hoover and husband Mickey and Sherry O’Neill and husband Scott, Danny Beck and wife Penny and Perry Beck and wife Brenda; special great- nieces and nephews Stephanie Grubb and husband John, Robin O’Neill and Andy and Will Hoover.
