Nellie Elizabeth Smith Jarvis, 90, of Henderson Lane, graduated to glory, Monday, October 14, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 pm Thursday October 17, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug McGee and her Son Brother Keith Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jarvis was born July 30, 1923, in Davidson County, to Henderson Alexander Smith and Fallie Viola Sain Smith. She was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, but far greater she was a born again Christian, and a member of the family of God. Mrs. Jarvis was a devoted loving wife, and an example of a Godly Christian woman. She was an unselfish lady, who had a smile and hug for everyone. She loved her family, and displayed everyday of her life a Godly love and willing joy. She was a friend to all who knew her, and a wonderful earthly mother to all her children. She leaves to cherish her memory, the testimony to all who knew her, and a desire that they too may walk with Jesus. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her darling husband of 67 years, the love of her life, Harvey Lee Jarvis, her first born precious son, Gary Lee Jarvis. Also preceding her were three brothers, Alex (Ed) Smith, Bobby Smith, and William (Bill) Smith; and five sisters, Betty Smith, Cladie Truell, Doris Burkhart, Ellen Benfield, and Maggie Craver.
Surviving are her two sons, Keith Jarvis and wife Veigh of Midway, and Wayne Jarvis and wife Cammy of Lexington; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
