Nellie Mae Mauney Smith

Nellie Mae Mauney Smith, of E. Holly Grove Rd., Lexington died Monday December 15, 2008 in Forsyth Medical Center after a sudden illness. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Rev. Jimmy Norred and Rev. George Fidler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born July 10, 1931, in Newton, to Millard Pink Mauney and Maude Estelle Robinette Mauney. She was retired from Stanley Furniture Company where she had worked in the repair department. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Miller and Dorothy Smith. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Sidney Max Smith of the home; daughters, Bonnie Bentley and husband, Keith and Lynn Klopp; grandchildren, Jennifer Bentley, Katie Bentley Belcher and husband, Cory, Lauren Klopp and Seth Klopp; and two great-grandchildren, Jaidyn and Jayce. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor UCC Cemetery Fund or Community Service Fund, 1002 East Holly Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or charity of the donor’s choice.
